CHAO ADVANCED EVOLUTIONS +DARK CHAO EVOLUTION

If you know how to make a Sonic Chao, then these ones are easy too.
Before reaching adulthood (before Chao evolves in cocoon), let Chao receive one of the following traits:

RUN
SWIM
POWER
FLIGHT
NONE

Here's what you'll get.

E.g. Run type then first evolution will give you Sonic Chao...

Flight- NiGHTS Chao. Purple, stripy horns and large wings
Swim- Alien Chao. Green+Yellow and sluggish body
Power- Orange Dragon Chao with red belly
None! Give it nothing and you'll just get a bigger Chao.

There are Hero / Dark versions of all these. Just make it either Hero or Dark before its evolution.
For example, Dark RUN will give you Green SHADOW CHAO and Dark Fly will give you basic REALA CHAO.

SECOND EVOLUTION

If you are playing Sonic Adventure Dreamcast, second evolution begins straight away when Chao is an adult whereas in Sonic adventure DX / 2 / Battle, you will need to spend lots of time and it will be a gradual change. As a beginner, to understand this process, it is recommended that you simply leave your adult Chao for one Chao year (3 hours in Gamecube, or 1.5 to 2 hours Dreamcast) or feed it continuously and you can reduce the time needed to reach second evolution. You will notice that your adult Chao begins to gradually change shape over time. Remember to give it at least one Chao year for the change.
Once your Chao has changed, you can now give it a trait or simply leave it as it is (it is Stamina type if you leave it as it is). Use the guides to get your desired Second Evolution Chao.
E.g. If you have a Dark Run Chao, scroll down Dark Chao section and look for Run Chao. If you want a Shadow Chao, Second evolution must be Run type= DARK RUN+RUN. You will find Second evolution Chao in this context in the guide. (‘DARK RUN’ means primary evolution is run and ‘+RUN’ means Second evolution is run)
P.S. None means give Chao nothing (this is Stamina type) e.g. NEUTRAL NONE+RUN means Neutral normal Chao (Primary evolution) and Run type Second evolution.

Dark Chao Second Evolution

SWIM+SWIM= Two coloured Shark Chao
SWIM+FLY= Black and Blue Ninja Chao
SWIM+RUN= Black and Sky blue Ninja Chao
SWIM+POWER= Black and Green Ninja Chao. Head has 3 Spikes
SWIM+NONE= Basic two colour Chao

FLY+SWIM= Very Dark Purple, with thin jesters. Bright hands
FLY+FLY= Jagged jesters
FLY+RUN= Chao has two balls on its head, its very dark
FLY+POWER= Devil Chao look alike, but red and pink.
FLY+NONE= (Character Chao) Reala Chao from NiGHTS Game

RUN+SWIM= Faded highlights on head. Head slicked back
RUN+FLY= Bright yellow highlights.
RUN+RUN= (Character Chao) Shadow Chao with red highlights
RUN+POWER= Tall head, bright blue rings
RUN+NONE= Dull Green Highlights

POWER+SWIM= Head colour is stripy green, and curls backwards
POWER+FLY= Two small purple feathers, come from its head
POWER+RUN= Two green leaves come from its long head
POWER+POWER= Head spirals like a Snake
POWER+NONE= Head looks like a wasps tail. Has purple tummy

NONE+SWIM= Head Curves down, colour of tip is Peachy
NONE+FLY= Sharp spike going up, colour of tip is Pink
NONE+RUN= Sharp spike going up, colour of tip is Purple
NONE+POWER= Head is like a Skull, colour of tip is Orange
NONE+NONE= Basic Dark Chao, with blue / Purple marks

RUN+RUN= (Character Chao) SONIC THE HEDGEHOG BLUE CHAO
RUN+POWER= Looks like a purple Super Sonic hairstyle
RUN+NONE= Close to a Sonic Chao, but not enough

POWER+SWIM= Pea Head Chao, very bright orange, huge fists
POWER+FLY= Tall head Chao with spike on the back of its head
POWER+RUN= Bright Orange Chao with 2 spikes bent backwards
POWER+POWER= Red like a Knuckles Chao. Its like a Dragon
POWER+NONE= Basic Power Chao, but a bit darker

None type: (all these Chao are blue and Green)
NONE+SWIM= Tall spike Chao
NONE+FLY= Curled Spike over head
NONE+RUN= Smallest spike Chao
NONE+POWER= Medium spike size
NONE+NONE= Looks like a newborn Chao, but with dark colours

FLY+NONE= Curly feathers

RUN+SWIM= Head is like a stem, which splits into 2 petals
RUN+FLY= Head is purple, shaped like a 'V'
RUN+RUN= 3 Spikes coloured blue
RUN+POWER= Head is like a pole
RUN+NONE= Short Curved pole

POWER+SWIM= Pink markings and Chubby
POWER+FLY= Purple markings and looks like a flower
POWER+RUN= Peachy markings and Chubby
POWER+POWER= Huge Hero Chao with bright red things on its head
POWER+NONE= Its colour is orange

NONE+SWIM= Aqua coloured antennae which are Chubby
NONE+FLY= Antennae look like Drum sticks
NONE+RUN= Sharp antennae that are blue
NONE+POWER= The antennae are Chubby and are coloured purple at the top
NONE+NONE= Fatter antennae

SECOND EVOLUTION ERRORS

This happens in all Chao games. If you find that your Chao is not changing Shape there are two solutions:
1) You have not waited long enough or
2) Use a different trait.
For example your Sonic Chao has got short blue spikes that have curled up and you are giving it Run type but it is not getting better. You must bring it a different type of a Chaos drive set, and it might correct itself. If not, RESET, and try another type. The first problem is common for beginners; you need to wait at least 3 hours on Gamecube or 2 on Dreamcast.
