I'll give you the codes required for infinite rings.
But there is not a method to get infinite rings without one.

But I can give you another method:

Sonic Adventure DX:
Do you know the Casino switch that gives you rings or the switch at the top of the stairs in the hotel?
Press it, do light dash to collect rings, press again, repeat.
If you have a Gameboy advance and a link cable. Tell someone to play Sonic advance and raise rings while you do that, and transport rings to garden.
Or do it the boring way and keep digging in Mystic Ruins with Knux

Dig around Station Square with Knuckles until you find a magnetic barrier. Then go inside the hotel and go up the stairs. Stand on the button that makes the rings appear for Sonic's light dash. Just leave him here for a while, I think he can get 9999 rings maximum. After, though, you have to beat a level to get them.
