Shadow's cooler than Sonic

Chaclon ID:018817 2008/01/23 19:40:23
Here's some of the most memorable lines from Sonic adventure 2:

Shadow: (Spots the blue tornado- Tails' plane). Their in that blue plane spotted at 11 o'clock.
Shadow: Dr, Do you want me to go after them?
Eggman: (On radio) ___Sit tight Shadow, I don't know what they're planning, but I'll be sure to give them a warm welcome...

Rouge (To Shadow): Did you get that?
Shadow (Ignorant): Soon enough, Maria.
(Rouge's radio rings beep beep beep)
Rouge: This is Rouge reporting. Currently, I've not been able to confirm whether Shadow is the ultimate life form or not. I'll continue my research on project Shaodow and...

Just a reminder, DON'T FORGET ABOUT MY JEWELS!
*winks at camera*

Shadow is my favourite because I like this one of his lines, in particular.
After you defeat Sonic, with Shadow (Ark)

Shadow: I told you I'm the ultimate! (Sonic collapsed on the floor)
Me: Of course you are! You cute little animal... you!
He's just sooo better than Sonic. I remember another one of his lines, when Sonic beats him in Green forest.

Shadow: Darn! not bad for an imposter
Me: Why that little blue son o* a _****!
Sonic: Do you know who I am!?

ROUGE VS KNUX FIGHTING SCENE

Chaclon ID:018817 2008/01/25 22:04:49
scene: After the fight; Meteor Herd / Mad Space. Standing on a long beam Knuckles and Rouge
Both: Whew... Whew (OUT OF BREATH)
Both: Stop fooling around, and give me back my emeralds!
Rouge: What're you babbling about. You call yourself a Hunter? attacking a Lady? Shame on you!
Knuckles: What kind of Lady goes around stealing gems anyway?
Rouge: Those are mine... (plunges forward, loses grip, falls off the beam)
aaaaagh!
(She closes her eyes. When she opens them, she notices, Knux pulling her up)
Rouge: *murmurs* What in the world?
(Knuckles is still holding her hand. They look into each other's eyes... then)
Rouge: Keep your Hands off me!
Knuckles: Is that how you say thanks to someone who just saved your life!?
Rouge: Saving my life, huh! Don't think I owe you one. You just wanted to hold my hand didn't you, you're such a creep!
Knuckles: This isn't a joke you know. Think what you want Batgirl, I was just saving the Master emerald (yeah sure!)
Rouge: *sigh* huh, no matter what you say, it sounds crazy!
(Throws pieces of emerald to Knux, who is surprised)
Knuckles: wha?
Rouge: Fine, then just take 'em. They stink like Echidnas do!
Knuckles: (joining the pieces) If that's what you thought you should've given me them in the first place.
Rouge: (he looks at her) What?
Knuckles: I'm sorry... (turns head the other way) If I hurt you *runs away with the master emerald*
Rouge is seen smiling
Pause...
She looks up...
Rouge: We should get going (WTF? Who's she talkin' to?)
Looks back, smiles, then runs down the beam. The screen fades away.

Kirby ID:017099 2008/01/23 20:23:23
Nah, his lines are more of a generic antagonist than Sonic's in SA2...the only cool thing about Shadow is his red streaks on his spikes and chaos control attacks.

If you think. Prof. Gerald created Shadow long ago. Sonic must've been born long after

Chaclon ID:018817 2008/01/23 21:14:22
Shadow was the first hedghehog in the Sonic world according to SA2:B

Here's another scene.

Chaclon ID:018817 2008/01/23 21:29:58
On the Deck (Metal Harbor)

Rouge, Shadow and Eggman gather together and talk about the plan to steal the Chaos emeralds.
Suddenly:
Amy: (Hugs Shadow) Oh Sonic, Boy am I glad to see you
Shadow: ? (WTF?)
Amy: You're not Sonic, huh... (sees Eggman) Aaaagh!
Dr.Robotnik has captured Amy. Rouge and Shadow are set off to do their task.
Tails then shows up and rescues Amy...

Another memorable scene was the one in security hall.
Alarms set off. everything is flashing red.
Rouge is running, skids to a halt and gapes. She has been locked up!

Rouge: I can't believe I've come this far... just to fail.
Flying dog: This is Flying Dog, Intruder was found entering Security Hall.

After flying dog is defeated:
Rouge: Not bad huh, I'm pretty strong all right!
(Shadow is seen walking down the forest... suddenly his radio... beep beep beep!)
Rouge: This is Rouge, I've got a small problem. I can't believed I'm trapped in this safe in the Security Hall. I guess I won't be able to call myself a treasure Hunter anymore.
Shadow's mind gives him flashbacks of Maria in the Ark.
Maria: Shadow, I beg of you, for all those people on that planet... please, do it for me. Sayonara...
Shadow: MARIA!
Maria: ...Shadow the Hedgehog.
Shadow is urged to help Rouge.
Shadow: Shoot! troublemaker!
Shadow runs, the screen fades... White Jungle.

That's preposterous...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 01:45:03
Other hedgehogs have to exist, and had to predate Shadow. It's not like Gerald created him out of nothing. He had to have used a base genetic template. Furthermore, what does it say about Sonic that he is by virtue of his own abilities a match for the most powerful lifeform science could create?

Re: That's preposterous...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 02:58:11
Who is it that fights the biolizard?
I don't remember seeing sonic there. . .

Re: That's preposterous...

Depurified ID:014893 2008/01/24 04:03:56
Sonic was busy with something else and Shadow was leaking his pride from several places.. That's why he fought the Chicken-gizard..

Well biolizard decidedly was a bit dissapointing

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 04:16:05
It's supposed to be the big boss and i only lost 2 lives figuring out how to kill it.

Re: Well biolizard decidedly was a bit dissapointing

Depurified ID:014893 2008/01/24 04:41:36
Yeah. But they key is these three steps. As long as you do it in the right place at the right time you can defeat any boss..

1.Jump
2.Run
3.Repeat

Indeed

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 04:44:25
It doesn't digress from the origional sonic (jump run repeat) genere.
It's like pokemon.

HOWEVER IN IT'S DEFENSE

There's a certain ammount of satisfaction on the speed courses while someones watching you blur the fucking screen with how fast they're moving and you being able to keep up with it.

:)

It only gets to be a pain in the ass when you get to the eggs...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 05:44:55
the darkness balls are never going to kill you unless you get careless and fall in the water while dodging them, because the your rings get swept away. The finalhazard's a good bit easier still.

Re: It only gets to be a pain in the ass when you get to the eggs...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 05:48:03
Exactly. I never seem to get hit by the darkness balls, and the eggs are what i died a few times on.

Re: It only gets to be a pain in the ass when you get to the eggs...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 05:48:56
In fact. . . After the eggs attack, the third phase is a cakewalk in comparison..

Who dies because he can't keep his ring count up?...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 05:46:11
Oops. Shadow might be brighter but he can still be pretty dumb.

Re: Who dies because he can't keep his ring count up?...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 05:50:41
pff. They're all pretty dumb. Even a grove street OG could own them all in a battle of witts with insults such as (That car is DOODOO) and (Dam who painted that shit on you)

They just got worse as the games progressed...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 05:56:39
Back in SA2 they were reasonably competent. Robotnik used hostages and Sonic attempted to pull a fast one. Still not super intelligent, but it's not the DUUURRR! personality they have in more recent titles.

Perhaps. . .

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 05:58:47
It's the japanese perspective on American children being fat, lazy, and stupid. which isn't all that wrong either.
The united states is the largest single videogame consumer in the world after all. Most games like that arte focused on our stupid asses.

Oh I know, people keep buying the games...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:01:25
and they get lazier and lazier with the writing. I got sick of it, and so now I'm just writing my own.

Indeed

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:02:50
and though it's not a first class work of fiction, it's a far sight better than what the Sonic Team has been up to in recent games.

And the one you saw was written two years ago...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:04:52
I haven't been sitting on my butt this whole time, I've been trying to improve because I'm not satisfied with less than the best I can do.

Re: And the one you saw was written two years ago...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:06:39
We should do a game.
Granted i'm not as much into the sonic world as you seem to be, but you've seen what i'm capable of.
We'll have to get some coders and whatnot. . .

That is always the problem...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:12:22
never seem to be enough coders for the storytellers. Personally I'd just start over at the beginning, the battle for South Island and go from there.

More's the pitty.

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:15:14
The coders get stuck with Hagar the Horrible as a story artist, and the real story artists get left at kindergarten.

Re: More's the pitty.

Kirby ID:017099 2008/01/24 10:57:27
Heh, I remember that humorous HP dub...=/

And the two of us could choreograph all the fight sequences

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:13:04
as well as dialogue and story, while they do the rest.

Well, if you're interested, I could always use an editor...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:20:01
I do most of my plotting with my best friend, and we've scripted basic adaptions for most of the main games, plus a (more or less) complete history, including several catclysms. But another perspective would be much appreciated, as we're constantly revising for maximum badassery.

Re: Well, if you're interested, I could always use an editor...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:23:26
If it's online, i'd throw in some input sure. Send me a pm on GDL and I'll look into it.

I generally post things at GDL...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:39:18
after they've gone through primary editing at my main writing site.

So. . .

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:43:15
I just find your post, look it over and then give my input, yes?
What i was asking you to pm me was the exact location, but if it's not a universal secret (like my site) then you could just tell me in a post?

It's in the story board. There's the original Age of Chaos...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 06:45:24
which is way outdated and going to be entirely rewritten, and there's Iron Empire, which is more recent, and better up to my standards. Warning, it does include some of the comic characters and locations, but they're mostly minimal.

Re: It's in the story board. There's the original Age of Chaos...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:56:17
Makes no nevermind to me.
And what exactly shall I do? shall I simply give my input? or take small tidbits and clean them up and resubmit to you?
I'm not certain what you wish of me.

Re: It's in the story board. There's the original Age of Chaos...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 06:58:58
Also.
The dialogue is a little. . . Well it's like a game stopping for a dialogue session. FF7 style, with long interludes of text. Otherwise I was right there with them. (for your last post that is)
To add to the realism of the dialogue, intergections of action between the conversing, such as knuckles crossing his arms mid conversation, or sonic scratching his head in puzzlement, or someones gaze being averted.

Yeah, I see what you mean...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 07:07:09
thanks. That's the kind of help I need. I think the dialogue comes off much more naturally, in terms of what they're saying, but I do need to break it up. One of the things I have trouble with is telling if it's funny. There are a lot lines that I put in specifically because they amuse me or D'Haran (refered to as D. If you have more than two syllables in your name you get shortened, until half our members are known simply by letters. Unfortunately, this has led to having D, CD, DC, and DCD) Anyway, I'm not sure what comes off as funny to everybody else.

Well humor is in the eye of the beholder

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 07:20:25
but most people in general find the comic relief bit most appealing if it's a character who's somewhat witty, cowardly, or silly in general. Humor being such a diversely percieved thing the fact of the matter being you can't really please the whole universe, but psycological humor isn't widely accepted unless it's an intelligent story.

Toilet humor doesn't work so much unless the book is for rednecks.
Randomn silliness is widely accepted by most general audiences. A comic relief character is generally what does this. You could be in the middle of a huge war scene and suddenly, cut to the comic relief who's randomly dodging agressors, running arround like a chicken, and yet somehow managing to (in their own mind) win the war. Think of Barney Fife in the middle of world war 2 or something. Nip it in the bud. This comic relief should take themself seriously, but no one else can. The only reason this person is in the enturage in the first place is because they're a true and loyal friend.

Meh, I personally like largely serious characters being silly...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 07:29:55
like Shadow and the jam. "I know what it is!" When I was thinking of that scene the idea just came to me and made me laugh, so I wrote it in. Fayde's also fun to do because he is legitimately crazy, and both his way of trampling over objections and uttering random, slightly creepy stuff and everyone else's reactions to that are fun to write. "I know twelve ways to kill a man with knitting needles" "That's, uh... interesting"

Re: Meh, I personally like largely serious characters being silly...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 08:07:46
I admit it is amusing. And i did get a chuckle or two (but nothing overly comical)
See, the point i'm making is that if you're effectively trying to make someone laugh, that's what you need. But I misunderstood your intended remark. It is humorous in it's own way, but I thought you were saying you wanted to make a comical.

Anyhow as far as all that goes. . .

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 08:10:48
At times (if speedreading) it's hard to discern who's talking to whom. To specify who's speaking would be a huge improvement. It's actually a little difficult, but it seemed like D had it down. It can be repetitive if you're not careful. That is where the interjections of action I had previously mentioned come in. To break up the almost repetitive "he said she said" bullshit.

He works with the newspaper, so he's better with the quotations...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 08:16:49
I'll look into it. I know I occasionally have issues with clarity since when I'm writing it makes perfect sense to me and I drop stuff that is helpful to other's ability to follow.

It's a serious story, and if it got a chuckle, that's what I was aiming for...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/24 08:14:05
funny, but not so much as to take the focus away from the action. Or lack thereof in this part.

Re: It's a serious story, and if it got a chuckle, that's what I was aiming for...

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 08:20:44
Then that particular point needs no work.

Re: That's preposterous...

Black Lady ID:015115 2008/01/24 03:15:17
It means that Sonic is much prettier than Shadow. :D

Bah. pretty don't mean shit

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 03:23:05
Performance is integral to a proper protagonist. Sonic seems a little dimwitted as well as far as dialogue goes.

Shadow is quite the intelligent one. If it were a battle of wits, shadow would have the advantage. However sonic has good karma, which allwos him a degree of pressing his luck. that's the only reason sonic could EVER beat shadow.

Re: Bah. pretty don't mean shit

Depurified ID:014893 2008/01/24 04:02:23
No, the only reason Sonic would beat Shadow would be because Sega let him..

"Shadow is quite the intelligent one.'

I always thought of Shadow as a powerful entity more than intelligent...

Re: Bah. pretty don't mean shit

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 23:51:13
Well in comparison to sonic, shadow is quite the mental adept. Listen to the way he words things in comparison to sonic.

Egoistically...

They both have an ego the size of texas.

Of course, both of their egos combined can't match up to Scott's ego.

ROFL man. she must see you as sonic and herself as Amy or something.

It's funny as a third party observer, and i'd be flattered as a second party, but I don't think i'd be interested either. I do enjoy watching her follow your textual ass arround like a flea on a dogs tail though.

Well i'm sure she did, but i'm saying the connection between her name and her obvious infatuation with you might have clicked in her brain.

Does it not seem odd the striking resemblance. . .

®Prof. NohmNohmz™ ID:017807 2008/01/24 05:01:31

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2008/01/25 01:03:52
one of the few things that game did right. His confrontations with Mephiles are pretty awesome. "Join me, Shadow, the humans will only betray you in the end"

"Fuck you. If the world decides to become my enemy, then I will fight them too, but right now I'm going to kill you."
