Firstly, you'll need at least a C in the Swim Abilty, D in fly, B in run, C in power (This is the least I expect).
Remember to get your Chao to lv.99 in every thing before trying the race, Stamina however, is not important if you have the grades expected. But you could need at least level 20 and a C rank in Stamina.
Only a few courses need walkthroughs, and I will guide you through only level 5 of the Jewel races
AQUAMARINE: Your biggest rival is the fattest Alien Chao. Its the fastest swimmer of the group. Your Chao can beat this race easily if it can run too! There's a short run to a mini pool, and then there's a longer run to the big pool. If it can run, they'll have trouble catching up. Running is these Chao's weakness. When you get to the big pool your Chao will fly over some of it. After the pool, there is a short run to the end.
TOPAZ: Your biggest rival is the NiGHTS Chao. When they start running, cheer your Chao at least twice, because they do catch up quickly. There's a gap ahead. Your Chao will fly over it. Cheer for Chao again as it is climbing. There's a short run now before your Chao flies off the cliff, you don't need to cheer it now. The rest of the course is like the aquamarine.
PERIDOT: The fastest one is the Chao that looks almost like a Sonic Chao, but it is not, because his spikes are not long enough, he's blue and his chances of falling over is unlikely. Your Chao needs Stamina and at least a B rank to survive this one. There's two hills and then a cave. Then there's the long downhill part. If you boost your Chao here, it'll run faster. After the bend the course is flat near the end. If your Chao has some Stamina, use it near the end where the floor is coloured.
GARNET: That bright red dragon Chao is not your biggest rival even if it looks like he's supposed to be. There are faster Chao than that one. The start of this course bends around to the edge of the cliff, like in Topaz course, you'll need to boost Chao at least twice to stay ahead of them. After climbing the wall, there's trees. Do not Cheer your Chao when its shaking a tree or eating a fruit; it wastes stamina. Running is the other Chao's weakness, so the next part should be easy. You could boost your Chao up to the wall if you wanted to. After the wall, there's a bend and a short path to the finish- the other Chao should be well behind you.
ONYX: Luck and Intelligence are not important actually. This race tests the ability to RUN MOSTLY, with the Second Importance being swim. Boost Chao as he runs to the box- you can restart if the Jack-In-The-Box strikes. boost it after the box, and you'll see the pool ahead. boost it once in the pool, then carry on. After the bend in the cave there's another puzzle. Your Chao will pick the right fruit on its own, hopefully if there is enough. The rest of the course is now similar to Peridot. Its that long run downhill, which means boosting your Chao downhill will make it go faster.
DIAMOND: Your rival is the same as the one in Onyx; That Chao with a curl over his head. There is a box puzzle after a short run, boost Chao once (restart if Chao is struck). Your Chao will then be required to climb that wall over the gap. Boost it up there once. Remember that you do not need to cheer your Chao by this part where it is shaking trees and eating fruit. After that, boost it once round the bend, and once in the pool. Let it run through the cave and to the puzzle machine. After that, your Chao will need to run round the spiral path. It is good to boost it here, as it is downhill, and Chao will go faster. When it reaches the big pool, boost Chao once it is in the pool, after it has flown over part of the pool. There's now a long run to the end, use your Stamina wisely- keep it for the coloured part.
I forgot to mention there are traps in the coloured part of this course, and the Onyx course- your Chao might be lucky not to fall into that pit.
