Its not really that great. If you attack one another the game will lock up. Plus If player one is a Hero character, Player 2 can pet the Chao as a Hero, even if its Shadow. And if player one is a Dark character, player 2 can pet the Chao into a dark baby devil, and it doesn't matter if that's Knuckles / Tails / Amy...

Identity theft is just his style, and truth be told he's good enough at it that he's often not discovered until much later, if at all, unless the real owner of the name points it out. In any event, once he's taken the identity he's not going to give it back until he's damn well ready. And sure as hell not because you tell him to. More likely he'll keep it longer to spite you.
