There's more corruption on a quantity scale because there are more people, but in terms of individuals it hasn't changed except that we're more aware of it. It seems worse because there's more, and we're more aware of it, but pick any point in recorded history and you'll find examples of people ranging from the nearly completely corrupt to the nearly completely idealist. People haven't changed, awareness has.
