well, one of my chaos wears a beanie on its head, so its normal, it just means your chao has high enough statistics to wear hats, masks,etc. i am not sure how many times a chao can reincarnate, but if they do it enough, they will eventually become immortal. i have one that is a level 100 running(same one with beanie). i hope this helped.
