About the races in Sonic Adventure DX...

In the chao racing part of Sonic Adventure DX, I've noticed some stuff...

I have a chao that has a really high level in running, and he continuously runs around the garden, but in the races he only crawls, is that just because he's still a baby chao?

AND why does the camera keep focusing on other chao besides your own? Is that even avoidable?

Yes it is because he's still a baby and as for your camera problems just toggle it by using the D-Pad till you get the Chao that you wanna see.
