What happened to the Chao?

My 6 year old is raising Chaos on the Sonic DX game. He was in the Chao Garden and was excited to see his Chao go into a cocoon. But when the cocoon disappeared, so did the Chao! I thought maybe it was a bug in the game until 5 minutes later, it happened again to another Chao! We searched all the gardens and couldnt find them. He is very upset. Any ideas on what happened to the Chaos? Thanks!

Erm, like the other two said, they died. For future reference, the colour of the cocoon signifies whether they'll die or reincarnate. If the cocoon is gray, it means it'll die. If this is the case, then turn off the game without saving to have another chance, go back to the garden, and try petting it a lot at the last minute so that the chance of it reincarnating instead is increased. If the cocoon is pink, well, that means it'll be reborn and you raised it to like you.

Oh, and if it's green, then it's evolving, but that happens with baby chao only. As for Chaos Chao, I have no idea what colour the cocoon should be.
