How to plant seeds?

I won the scoop that I was told you needed to plant tree seeds, but when I give a seed to my Chao, he simply walks around with it for a while and eventually sets it down. Is that what's supposed to happen?

That usually happens in the Hero Garden to me. Just try moving your Chao to another part of the Garden and try again. You might also want to win the Watering Can if you haven't already. Not having it might cause those problems. o.o

Yes, you definitly need the watering can.
