There's no way to actually control what animal parts the chao gets when you give it an animal, so in making a cockroach chao, you just give dragons over and over until it gets antenni, correct? But then when you give it the skeleton dog, you risk losing the antenni too. So what, you just keep doing it over and over until you finally wind up with an onyx chao with antenni, or you just let it have the other dragon parts?

Well, it seems to me that certain parts are gained and lost more easily...

the parts it gets first seem to go away first, so it may be a bit easier than would otherwise be expected.
