How do you get the Chao to plant a Tree seed?

It's on Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, and I've heard that you have to give the seed to your Chao and they'll plant it, but the Chao won't take it, just completely ignores it and crawls past it. Any help guys please? Ty. x

Your chao needs to have the shovel and watering can that you get from the Beginner races, and your chao also needs to be pretty intelligent. Does that help? n.n
