Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Kiwi, and yes I've earned the right to call you by that apparently forgotten name Empress, allow me top respond to you here. I would respond to the other thread, but alas this antiquated forum mode does not allow for topic bumping.

To begin, I am here to check on old friends and foes alike. I'd like to call you a friend, but I've no idea if you still consider me to be one.

As to the nature of spam, I'm afraid I once again have to inform you that you're missusing the word.

Dictonary.com, a well known free online dictionary offers the following as to the meaning of Spam.
Spam, n Unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups; junk e-mail.

tr.v. spammed, spam•ming, spams

1. To send unsolicited e-mail to.
2. To send (a message) indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups.

The article its self can be found at http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=Spam

Further and more detailed information can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Messaging_spam

As far as the welfare of sonic team and SA2B go. Sonic team is alive, I was referring to the parent company Sega. SA2B, released June 19, 2001 has celebrated its fourth birthday. You're right, I was wrong to say that it has died, I'd thought that it was released a year earlier. However, in 5 months it will reach its five year anniversary and be officially termed deadwear.

As for whether or not they matter. I find that they do. I was unaware the past was such a touchy subject for you, and can only guess as to why. Perhaps your relationship with Kirby was a failure?

The denotation of the word 'spam' doesn't matter, we're just trying to explain in it a way that these new people will understand. Whether or not posting pointless topics is considered spam, it's still kinda annoying, and a lot of the new ones seem to want to make friends here, so a way to do that is to just not be annoying. I don't know why others keep coming here here, but I come here because I have friends who still come here. As for the other stuff you said, I have no say in, because basically this post wasn't directed at me, and plus, I had left for the summers of 2003 & 2004, which seems to be when all the interesting stuff happened. Do you have any older names, by the way?

Ah yes, of course, how silly of me to expect that people actually care about the meaning of the words they use.

Other names you ask? Ohhh yes. Yes I did.

Hello. Ramenth. I never thought I'd see you here again...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2006/01/19 06:20:48
Been a while, hasn't it. Looks like I may get my wish after all. When you're defining words for people, keep in mind that english isn't a dead language. Words can change meanings over time, and in today's superconnected world they can change quite rapidly. Spam is beginning to be applied to more than just email, and remember, not too long ago the only meaning it had was low grade lunch meat.

That name does sound vaguely familiar. Another arrogant "veteran" I take it...

You could say that. Don't know if that ID is original or not.

That ID does look familiar now that you mention it... I'm pretty sure he's a "veteran", he sure sounds the part...

Re: You could say that. Don't know if that ID is original or not.

Dark Celestial Dragon ID:011103 2006/01/19 08:17:04
The oldest ID of his that I've seen/replied to was in the 5000's.

5866. I remember now.

So do I...

Re: Hello. Ramenth. I never thought I'd see you here again...

Benediction of Moons ID:015571 2006/01/19 10:35:23
Indeed, hence the links to Messanger spam. :/ Still though, it applies to something being posted frequently. Off topic posts are just that. Off topic.

There is a distinction, true enough, but here it grows rather thin...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2006/01/19 10:46:43
as people are rarely content to make only one such topic. Usually the his and byes are frequent enough to merit the title.

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Dark Celestial Dragon ID:011103 2006/01/19 08:27:29
You're not reading correctly. It's not that we don't care what the real definition is, it's just we're trying to define it in a way that most people know it for, in which these newbies would understand. Or actually, I guess I can't even say anything about this because I don't even use the word 'spam'. I just answered because the person asked.

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Empress ID:015115 2006/01/19 06:26:35
-.- Kiwi? I assure you I'm not Kiwi, but out of curiousity, what makes you think so?
It isn't a very touchy subject, but I find it hypocritical for you to post such things about this BBS when you don't do any better.
Spam is techninally applied to e-mail, but the coined term is a stupid message/post/topic. Words take on a new meaning once people get their hands on them...

Meh. I have short words for this topic. Dumb. It's spam it's self. bringing up a pointless argument in which is not needed. Anyway, I am too short of words to go into details for it. Either way. It's not worth it.

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

"Bringing up a pointless argument that is not needed"...
Wow, that's too true...

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Benediction of Moons ID:015571 2006/01/19 10:37:45
Indeed, you're right. This is offtopic. The lack of a private message system, however, leaves me without choice.

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Empress ID:015115 2006/01/19 10:51:04
Oh, it isn't like there aren't other means of contacting someone without posting here...

Re: Well. I see I struck a nerve...

Benediction of Moons ID:015571 2006/01/19 10:36:42
If you'd bothered to read the links, You'd realize you were mistaken.

Either way, I assumed you were Kiwi because she once used that name.

Empress ID:015115 2006/01/19 10:49:53
Get your facts straight, Ramenth. I don't like being accused of being someone I'm not, and I don't care for arguing with egotistical fools...
Words gain a coined term over time, and whether it is or isn't the correct meaning, it's still used, and trying to stop it is pointless.

Dude, youre so ignorant. Dont you know that in the streets and such words change their meaning? Just shut up and stop trying to act smart. I can tell youre not.

This IS a night for holy miracles. Or unholy as the case may be...

Gigazubyte ID:015441 2006/01/19 10:48:34
Strange that so many old members should return at once, especially ones who promised never agian.

I once left for a three month period only of a reason I know, and it was an idiotic reason. But yes, it is odd that most oldies come back. Probably because they think this place is dead by now. =x

I've been here since I joined aside from that 3 month absence, I r here. =z

I know you, in spite of all the name changing.

I never saw your ID til like the summer of 2005. =x

been here since fall 2004, and a while before that, but with a big break.

Re: Whatever the reason, you came back. Ah, the memories.

Dark Celestial Dragon ID:011103 2006/01/19 13:26:03
3 months after I registered here, I was absent for about a month. 8 months after that time I came back, I was absent again for about 4 months. A month after that time I came back again, I was absent for 4 months. A week after I came back again, I was absent for about 3 months. Two days after I came back again, I was absent for 4 months. A year and two months after that time I came back again, well I'm still here.

Re: Whatever the reason, you came back. Ah, the memories.

Quite confusing. o_O

Re: Whatever the reason, you came back. Ah, the memories.

Dark Celestial Dragon ID:011103 2006/01/19 13:29:34
It probably wouldn't be though if I drew a calendar of my presence here and emailed it to you. Although that's a silly thing to do.

Re: Whatever the reason, you came back. Ah, the memories.

Katana Kitsune ID:014992 2006/01/19 13:38:48
XD quite so. Makes me giggle. But I guess I'm actully fast at learning that. Yay.
